About Faith and Reason-25

Hello, and welcome. My name is Dr. Neal Doran.

I hold a PhD in geology (specializing in paleontology) and teach college biology. I am an evangelical Christian who has spent a lifetime exploring what has been called God’s two great books: the book of Scripture and the book of nature.

My academic journey has taken me deep into geology, biology, paleontology, and the history and philosophy of science—all in an effort to understand the big questions of science. At the same time, I have explored the biggest questions of life and meaning through a Christian worldview, learning that these two paths are not separate. They are two different, essential ways of looking at the same things.

But in today’s culture, we’re often told we have to choose between them. We’re handed a false choice: either intellectual, evidence-based inquiry or a rich, vibrant faith. This leaves many Christians feeling overwhelmed, intimidated, or unsure how to answer the tough questions for themselves and their children.

Faith and Reason-25 is my answer to that problem.

What Makes This Different

You won’t find oversimplified talking points here. Unlike some apologetics ministries, we don’t pretend the hard questions are easy. And unlike theistic evolution frameworks, we don’t concede that shifting scientific frameworks are the foundation for philosophical certainty.

Why “25”?

The “25” marks 2025, the year this project relaunched during the Centennial of the Scopes Trial in Dayton, Tennessee (1925).

This project is a place for curious Christians who believe that science, history, philosophy, and even AI are not threats to our faith, but tools that can deepen our awe and understanding.

Here, we don’t shy away from the difficult topics. Dr. Jud Davis (theology) and I explore questions with academic rigor and a steadfast commitment to the truth of the Gospel. You can also see on the Biblical Theology Today podcast (https://www.youtube.com/@biblicaltheologytoday).
